On Street in Rome to Commemorate Three Years of Revolution in Syria

Text and Photos: Stefano Romano

“On March 15, three years ago, 14 children Dara’a in Syria, were arrested by the regime because they wrote on the wall: “The people want the fall of the regime”. Since then, the war in Syria has caused 150,000 deaths (according to some estimates maybe 200,000), more than 2 and a half million refugees. And children are the main victims.

For this reason on March 15, more than two thousand people, many Syrians and many associations, have come to Rome from all over Italy to celebrate the three years of the revolution against the Assad regime. They marched along the main streets of the city of Rome, hoisting a flag of many meters long, with at the head of the demo the same children who die every day in Syria.

The parade proceeded peacefully in the city, reaching the historic sites of Rome, carrying the flags of Syria free under those of Italy, in the sign of peace, of friendship and solidarity”
